During this season of “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta,” Benzino learned that his fiancée, Althea, had slept with his ex-best friend, Stevie J, prior to them getting together. Although such a shocking revelation would in most cases be enough to blow even the most solid of relationships to smithereens, the reality star decided to stick by Althea. In a recent interview with Rolling Out, Benzino defended his decision.
“The Stevie thing doesn’t bother me like it bothers everybody else,” he explained. “I’ve got a list of women … I don’t know if it’s good. My past has been brought up, as far as women in the industry. I’ve been with celebrities. ‘Love & Hip-Hop’ is about women … but it’s the same thing. I can’t too much remember what happens two weeks ago or a month ago or whatever.”
“I think that’s true love,” Althea chimed in. “When you’re getting through obstacles, it’s like you’re going through the worst to be happy and to be with that person. That’s like the test — to see if you really love that person.”
“That was a bad situation [with Stevie],” she continued. “Right after it happened, I realized … that I’d made a mistake.”
As for speculation that she’s only with Benzino for his money, Althea had this to say:
“I am new, so a lot of people don’t know that I have my own business or that I had a deal before.”
Strangely, the pair also confessed to realizing how much they loved one another after Benzino broke into Althea’s house.
“One time, she wouldn’t let me in the crib and I broke the window,” Benzino recalled. “And I climbed through the window.”
“That’s when I knew that he loved me,” Althea added. “And that’s when I knew I loved him.”
“I climbed in and I walked in and she was on the bed and I went and hugged her. But I got through the window. I’m getting through that muthaf—- one way or another. Now I got a key [laughs].”
