Virginia Man Murders Wife And 3 Daughters Before Committing Suicide
The bodies of a Virginia family of five were discovered inside of their Culpepper home, NBC Washington reports. Clarence and Shauna Washington, both 35, and their three daughters—4-year-old Olivia, 6-year-old Onya and 13-year-old Omesha had all suffered from apparent gun shot wounds. Now, authorities are left with the task of piecing together what led up to the tragic event.
The family last made contact with relatives around 5:20 p.m. on Saturday night; however, when they didn’t show up for church on Sunday, Shauna’s mother, Diane Manor, grew concerned and headed over to the family’s residence. When she arrived, the door was bolted and locked shut, so she squeezed into the home through a small window. Sadly, this is when she made the gruesome discovery. After being called to the scene, investigators concluded that Clarence snuffed out the lives of his wife and three daughters, then turned the gun on himself.
Relatives of Shauna say that the couple had been involved in an ongoing domestic dispute, which must have escalated on Saturday night. Sadly, authorities say that they did not receive any 911 calls from the home. Scott Jenkins, Culpepper Sheriff, says that the occurrence has been ruled as a murder-suicide. A cousin of Shauna, Nicole Minor-Melvin, told reporters that Shauna wanted to end her marriage to Clarence; however, he did not want their union to end.
“My prayers, my pictures of us, our conversations; that was my sister,” expressed an emotional Nicole. “That’s my heart, my best friend, my world.”
Shauna’s relatives say that they’re still in shock over the tragedy and that while Clarence owned four guns, he was not a bad person and worked to provide for his family. Relatives add that although the deceased father had no criminal history, they do not doubt that he is responsible for the murders.
We definitely send our prayers to this grieving family.
