“3 Seconds Of Anger Cost Me A Lifetimes Worth Of Work”: Chad Johnson Says Ugly Fight With Evelyn Lozada Ruined His Career

If you’ll recall, in 2012, Chad Johnson and Evelyn Lozada had something of a whirlwind romance, and a majority of it was featured on Basketball Wives. But things went left after they tied the knot. If you’ll recall, on August 11, less than a month after the couple tied the knot (July 4), Johnson was arrested in Florida. He was charged with domestic battery for headbutting Lozada following a heated argument over a receipt for condoms that she found in his car. She filed for divorce (which was finalized in September of 2012), and Johnson received a year of probation after pleading no contest to his misdemeanor battery charge.

The day after Johnson was arrested, he was released from the Miami Dolphins, and things went downhill from there. He has taken jobs here and there, including being an analyst for CBS’ Fantasy Football coverage, but after playing in the NFL for more than 10 years, his career was damn near over.

Thinking back on that dark time (FYI, he’s reportedly playing ball in Canada now), Johnson hit fans with a “Throwback Thursday” where he recounted how the moment he lost his cool changed his life forever. He posted the following picture of himself in court, and continued:

Speaking earlier this year, Johnson said that he still had love for his ex-wife, despite all they had been through: “Yeah, love don’t go nowhere like that. I will always love her, matter fact I love every goddamn body to an extent, it ain’t going nowhere.”

His most recent Twitter comments come right after Lozada’s former fiancé, Antoine Walker, spoke about her leaving him high and dry when his money ran out. Doesn’t it seem like it’s always when a woman moves on that her exes come out the basement…?

Bad decisions cost you a lifetime or work including getting involved with the she-devil called Evelyn Lozada!!!!!

  • ComeLetsTalk

Nope, a lifetime of arrogance and believing your own hype caused that buddy.

  • Peaches

She is a skank and is like a doorknob. Everyone has had a turn. You pick the skank.

Chad’s career was already on the decline. He was no longer an elite player. Teams usually put up with their elite players off the field/court behavior and slap them with suspensions and fines. We have all seen that time after time. But, when you are no longer valuable to a team, they are not abt to put with your off the field/court Chenannigans(in my Joseline voice), which brings negative publicity for the team.

He’s taking responsibility; he isn’t blaming or throwing her name under the bus. Evelyn is a reality star and a professional athlete-chaser: Chad is a reality and NFL star. It’s bound to happen that they will mention the other, hell- I can’t even think about Chad without Evelyn. That woman has a way of absorbing every man she deals with but hey, I don’t feel sorry for any man who chooses that kind of woman. Physical beauty isn’t everything. Whether it was a headbutt or something else, I have a strong feeling that marriage wouldn’t have lasted anyhow and Eve has already moved on to her next rich boyfriend.

    oh boy hush!

And as far as his career, it was over when he had his last injury 4-5 years ago. Remember your dumbass reality show? uummm hummmm

For every gold digging woman, there are 500 men who ditch their starter wife/girlfriend once they have money and/or success. So boohoo. Put your big boy panties on and be a man.

  • AfricaChillin

At least he is taking full responsibility for his actions. The reality is, Chad was more preoccupied with being an entertainer than a football player. Ultimately, his theatrics created a bad reputation for him in the league. The domestic incident was just the final blow before everything crumbled.

  • WhoCares

SO? You did it to yourself!

  • HotJupiter

Hmmmm, I feel like his career was drying up BEFORE he met her and this just sprinkled dust on it.

  • Teach_One

Get this simp wimp chump out of here.

this is why we all need to work on our anger but i will say this Chad’s career was over mostly because he couldn’t learn the New England play book he came to Miami and the coach didn’t really want him so yes that may have sped up the process but he only had a year or so left anyway

Ikr I’m sitting here liiiike…errm, did I miss something lol? Let’s not act like you were everybody’s all-star golden boy and that just went up in thin air overnight…your hardships w/the Dolphins (and other teams) are well documented, sir.

    • BabyBlue

Even if he did learn it. He probably wouldn’t get the playing time he wanted. I still don’t believe that was the sole reason as to why he isn’t in the NFL. He wasn’t apart of the playbook. He’s a good receiver he had T.O numbers. It’s unfortunate that he couldn’t reach Jerry Rice numbers

  • coolyfett

Choose better women Chad….choose better women.

    • hollyw

Gotta be a better man to do that, ijs.

      • Taneesha Culture Clash Thomas

        lol amen!
