“He Loves Me At My Heaviest And He Loves Me At My Smallest”: Tamela Mann On Losing 100 Pounds And Having David’s Support
“I’m trying but it’s still a battle.”
That’s what gospel singer, actress and future reality star (I’ll explain later) Tamela Mann had to say about trying to keep her weight down. But the “Take Me To The King” singer has already dropped some major weight with the help of her husband and slowing down on fried foods (in particular, her weakness for Lay’s chips). She told those at the Tom Joyner Morning Show that she has already lost “over 100” pounds and is shrinking out of her clothes.
“I’ve already given them away. It’s like you do shifting. I just passed them down to people I don’t know or blessed someone I don’t know. A lot of stuff I had made because it’s hard for us to find something that really looks, I would say, nice. It’s like everything looks the same if you get it off the rack.”
She also says that her husband, David, who was diagnosed with diabetes and has been on a weight loss journey with her, has been very supportive. When asked by Joyner if her weight loss had David “all over her,” Tamela said the weight hasn’t changed her husband’s love and desire for her.
“He been all over me! [laughs] That’s the greatest thing. He’s loved me at my heaviest and he’s loved me at my smallest.”
So where is Tamela at after all her hard work?
“I was at a 30/32, now I’m down to like a 18/20, sometimes a 16 tops. But my bottom is still like a 20, I’m hippy.”
But she says that she’s not slowing down on her workouts anytime soon because she has a big goal that she hopes to reach.
“I just want to be able to go to any place, walk into any shop and find something. So my goal is to reach a 14.
We been working. It’s an uphill battle.”
So when you see her on the couple’s upcoming BET reality show, “Meet The Manns,” and she looks teeny tiny, don’t be surprised! Mann also spoke about trying reality TV and what fans can expect from their program.
“We’re taping. It’s me, David and the family. It’s seven of us with me and him and the kids, and then we’ve got eight grandkids. It’s a good thing. We just kind of want to encourage people because we’re a super blended family.”
We’re so excited for all the great things going on in her life right now. Check out her chat with TJMS below:
