Monday’s Madame: Ahyiana Angel
Location: California/New York
Why She Inspires Us:
Ahyiana Angel has been working with youth since she was a teen herself. Her first job in high school was as an after school leader with the Police Athletic League (PAL). Finding joy in giving back, she has since volunteered her time speaking to students at the Harlem StreetSquash after school program as well as students enrolled in Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) among other organizations. Ahyiana regularly mentors multiple aspiring young professionals that have an interest in public relations and the entertainment industry.
As a former NBA publicist, she knows what is required from such a demanding industry. Last year Ahyiana decided she was no longer passionate about her career at the NBA and set out to break away from her comfort zone to embark on a new career, which included becoming a published author. With no prior experience or connections in the publishing industry she accomplished her goal in less than a year. Her debut novel, Preseason Love, will be published by New York Times Best Selling Author Zane. It is available now for pre-order and it will be in stores October 21, 2014. With her new writing career, she has written for notable sites including Essence.com and xoJane.com among others.
