‘You Took A Part Of My Life:’ Heartbroken Family Of Hi-Five Singer’s Murdered Wife Speaks Out
The family of Hi-Five singer Russell Neal’s deceased girlfriend is speaking out. As previously reported, Russell was taken into police custody earlier this month and charged in the stabbing and beating death of the 24-year-old fitness model. Sadly, relatives say that abuse was a common factor in their troubled relationship.
Although Catherine was referred to as Russell’s wife in previous reports, relatives say that while the former couple shared two sons, 3-year-old Raphael and 5-year-old Diego, they were not legally married. Catherine’s family went on to reveal that he frequently disrespected her and did outlandish things such as charging her $40 to babysit his own sons.
“She was a beautiful child—inside and out,” Catherine’s heartbroken mother went on to tell reporters. “When you see this just remember you took a part of my life, a part of my heart.”
The mother of two spent the weekend before her death with relatives. However, by Tuesday, her fitness partner grew alarmed when she did not show up to the gym for their scheduled workout. Suspicions were confirmed the next day when Russell showed up to a Harris County police station and told officers that Catherine was dead in their apartment. Investigators later discovered the her lifeless body with multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma.
“They just keep saying she might have been lifeless for days,” said Glenda Lewis, Catherine’s sister. “That was my sister! That was our sister!”
Diego and Raphael are currently with Russell’s family. However, Catherine’s family recently visited CPS in an attempt to get custody of the boys.
