So if you’re looking for reasons to go on a road trip, you should know that Illinois is the place to be.Photo by Brooks Kraft/Corbis
Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library
For The Lincoln Lover: One of the most widely attended Presidential libraries, it’s not necessarily a place for books, but to get up on the history of Abraham Lincoln. There are exhibits, special theaters, displayed artifacts, and of course, everything you ever wanted to know about Lincoln. They recreated his boyhood home (the infamous log cabin), show you what he looked like at a variety of ages, give you an inside look into the 1860 presidential campaign, and take you inside a recreated corridor where Lincoln put together and signed the emancipation proclamation. Check the Library out in Springfield.
