The Fortune 500 list is here, once again offering up “the definitive ranking of America’s biggest companies.” And this year we have the added treat of seeing the highest number of female CEOs on the list. A total of 24 women leaders are represented on the list, up from 20 last year. This, unfortunately, “still represents a small percentage —4.8% to be exact — of the overall CEOs on the list.” But when you consider that just one woman made the list in 1998, it’s a sign of progress.

Six new women appear on this year’s list. Though it’s notable that, missing from the list, is Marissa Mayer, CEO of Yahoo. This is the first year in nine years, the digital company did not make the Fortune 500 list.

Fortune plans to release the statistics revolving around the Global 500 to see how women CEOs rank, internationally.
