From Grey’s Anatomy to Scandal we know Shonda Rimes has the magic touch when it comes to writing TV drama, but a struggling writer named Debra Feldman says she is no primetime David Copperfield but rather a crook.
In a lawsuit against the successful writer/producer, Feldman claims that Rhimes got a hold of her transcript “The Red Tattoo” and used it as a template for the failed series “Off The Map”. The series which ran for a short time in 2011 on ABC followed several doctors working in a remote South African village and was produced by Rhimes as well as others who worked on Grey’s Anatomy.
Feldman claimed none of the writers knew anything about medical treatment in the third world before her manuscript.
We can’t help but wonder why this is suddenly an issue for Feldman in 2014 when the show ended in 2011. A rep from Rhime’s camp commented to TMZ:
“It is our policy not to comment on frivolous claims.”
We hope that Rhimes can quickly and quietly bring this to an end.
Funny how many people come up out of the woodwork when your money tree starts growing. With Columbus Short recently being fired from Scandal, and Kerry Washington becoming a new mom, there might just be enough in these stars’ personal lives to entertain us until our favorite shows return.
