Beyoncé Covers TIME’s Most Influential People Issue; Says Mama Tina, Blue Influence Her Most
People might have different opinions on Beyoncé, her music, and the way she lives her life, but I think we can all agree that she’s an extremely influential individual at this point in her career.
Leotards in the club? #Flawless? Surfboard anyone?
Time felt the same way, and that’s why she was not only chosen for the 11th annual list of the 100 Most Influential People of 2014 (listed as one of the “titans” in her field; other categories include “pioneers,” “artists,” “leaders” and “icons”), but they gave her the cover. The issue is already quite popular, but I have a feeling it will do even better this year with Beyoncé front and center. She was profiled by popular Lean In author and Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, and covered the mag in a stripped shoot with little makeup (and little clothing).
Time‘s list of people is supposed to show love to individuals from different fields who inspired others over the past year, and they’re profiled by fellow influential folks. Other people chosen include Serena Williams (profiled by Dwyane Wade), Seth Meyers (profiled by Amy Poehler), Miley Cyrus (profiled by Dolly Parton), Kerry Washington (profiled by Valerie Jarrett), Hillary Clinton (profiled by Malala Yousafzai), Pharrell (profiled by Justin Timberlake), Pope Francis (profiled by President Obama) and many more athletes, politicians, entertainers and leaders.
Go behind the scenes of the singer’s photo shoot for Time and hear about her biggest influence below:
“I feel like my mother and my daughter have been the most influential. And being a mother, becoming a mother and looking at my daughter in her eyes, made me into a woman and made me very, very strong.”
