Nicci Gilbert and Syleena Johnson just couldn’t get along on R&B Divas Atlanta, and after two seasons of being at odds, Gilbert made the decision to be done with the show as far as being on-camera, but will remain a producer behind-the-scenes. She told us in a previous interview that the drama on the show and from viewers often stressed her out. “There were times where I would wake up so stressed, I thought I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown.” And when speaking on the similar backlash friends Kelly Price and Dawn Robinson received, Gilbert just wanted people to give them all a break. “Try to have an open mind…at the end of the day, reality stars are just doing what they can to feed their families.”

While Gilbert is gone, Johnson is a go for season three, with two new cast members in LaTavia Roberson and Kameelah Williams (formerly of 702). While speaking with Sister 2 Sister, Johnson was asked what she thought about Gilbert’s exit, as well Gilbert’s fans turning on her, and more:

Why She Won’t Miss Nicci Gilbert:

“You know I don’t miss Nicci. Everybody knows that. I don’t hate Nicci at all. I think she needs to be accountable for some of her actions, but I don’t hate her at all. I wish her the best in everything she does.”

Why She Thinks R&B Divas Season Three Will Be The Best:

“This season we’ve gotten back to the music. There’s more singing. There are more performances. You get to see us sing together, create records. That was the point [of the show].

It’s a full season. It’s nothing that you don’t have: pain, pleasure, fights, breakups, makeups. At the end of the day, you actually get to see a bond happen. The season ends up very positive and not on purpose. It just came naturally. I’m excited about it.”

The Backlash Gilbert, Price And Robinson Received From Fans:

“What Nicci and Kelly went through, I think it’s terrible. They’re bananas; that’s true, but I didn’t think it was enough to say, ‘I’m not going to buy someone’s records.’ They’re human beings. They make mistakes like we all do.

I think Kelly was pretty accountable. I don’t think Nicci took responsibility for anything that she’s done, but I don’t think people should have bashed her. She brought it on herself, but I felt bad. I don’t condone that. People have a right to have an opinion, but to go as far as saying, ‘We’re not going to buy your record…’ I don’t think that’s right.”

What do you think? Did your appreciation of any of the women on R&B Divas change after they did it?
