Teleka Patrick Found? Fisherman Finds Body In Indiana Lake, Authorities Believe It’s Hers
We’ve been reporting about Teleka Patrick’s disappearance since early December. The strange story behind the Michigan medical student kept getting more and more complex. First there were questions about her mental stability from her ex husband, then there was the odd video of her in the hotel lobby. And lastly, we learned of the restraining order gospel singer and pastor Marvin Sapp had filed against her back in 2012.
Now, this story seems to be coming to a tragic end.
When Patrick first went missing, police found her abandoned gold Lexus in a ditch off of I-94 in Portage, Indiana.
According to Fox 17 Online, early Sunday a fisherman discovered a body in an Indiana Lake. Private investigator, Jim Carlin believes it is Patrick’s. The lake was just yards away from where her car was found back in December.
Officials have yet to identify the body but a Porter County Coroner said the corpse was a black woman wearing dark clothing, a description that matches the clothes Patrick was wearing when she was last seen.
The Coroner, Chuck Harris, said they’ll be conducting tests on dental records and finger printing. Until that process is complete, they cannot make a positive identification. He says, “At this point in time, she had no identification on her. We’re going to do an autopsy later in the week, probably on Tuesday, to help with the identification of the individual.”
Investigators searched Lake Charles, where the body was found, back in January but it was frozen at the time and crew had to use sonar equipment to scan the area.
After the body was found yesterday, officials searched the area for clues but didn’t find anything significant.
Harris says there were no obvious signs of trauma on the body and it appears that she was in the water for a significant amount of time due to the degree of decomposition.
When asked if there were any other identifying marks, Harris said they didn’t remove any clothing in an attempt to keep all of the evidence together for the autopsy.
Patrick’s family released this statement:
“Our family was informed that a body was found that may be our daughter Teleka Patrick. We are waiting for official confirmation from the Kalamazoo Sheriff’s Department and have no comment at this time. Thank you for your continued prayers.”
