Couple Arrested For Fighting Before Scheduled Appearance On ‘Maury’
Just when you thought you’ve heard it all…
Hours before a Chicago couple was scheduled to make an appearance on “Maury,” they were arrested for fighting at a Connecticut hotel. According to The Hour newspaper, Shantae McGhee-Brown, 25, and John Coley, 46, were carted off to a nearby police station late Tuesday night after police officers responded to a 911 call from the Doubletree Hotel in Norwalk, Connecticut regarding a domestic disturbance.
The fight broke out during an argument over John’s alleged affair with Shantae’s mother, which they were scheduled to discuss the next morning on the long-lived daytime talk show. According to Shantae, John was set to take a lie detector test the next day in regard to the alleged affair. Shantae confessed to police that she threw a vase and broke a table inside of the third-floor hotel room. They were both held overnight on $100,000 bond and charged with disorderly conduct and third-degree criminal mischief. Shantae was also charged with interfering with an officer.
Public defender Christine Schwartzstein entered two protective orders, ordering John and Shantae to stay away from one another. They are both due in court later this month.
