At four years old, Spalding saw Yo- Yo Ma perform on the show and she was hooked. On her official website the bassist said, “It was definitely the thing that hipped me to the whole idea of music as a creative pursuit.”

    I love her! I was surprised that she was nominated for best new artist because she has been around for so long. I bought Ezperanza back in 2008 and have been up on her music ever since.
