Just because you’re playing house, doesn’t mean you’ll be able to actually get one. The law also presumes that married couples with both names on the deed own the property as “tenants by entirety”. Unmarried couples also cannot live in neighborhoods zoned for “families only”. Certain government housing will not legally allow unmarried partners to live together and still receive supplemented rent. Many schools will not allow unmarried partners to take advantage of their family housing units. The military only provides certain housing accommodations and allowances to married couples. There’s a reason they’re called “army wives” and not “army wifeys”.
