The harsh winter is finally over and if you’re like most people, you’re ready to start running naked through the streets in celebration…Well maybe not naked. But we can all admit the change in weather is cause to use our lunch breaks to the best of our ability.
For starters ditch your desk, rather than eating where you work.
If you do step outside, don’t make it a “running to the bank” moment. Instead take the time to shift to something uplifting. The easiest way to replenish the mind is interacting with nature. So get out there and find some green.
Start a list of nearby places, whether to go eat, or to just relax and roam, that you can slowly work your way through. Even when you’ve gotten through the list identifying creative activities can be another major stress reliever. Maybe a little photography during lunch can get you outside, enjoying the day and the scenery. Bring your phone and take a new screensaver. Try writing on a park bench or drawing from the window of your office. Or, knitting anyone?
Whether or not you’re able to get outside, include some buddy time. Interacting with a friend or colleague can be a serious brain boost. Be sure that the get together bans all work talk and use the time for going over Scandal highlights or something equally enticing.
Whatever you do, let lunch be a true break in the day allowing you ample time to refuel for the remainder of the day.
