While millions of folks watched “Preachers of LA” religiously there were many more who took issue with the show, claiming they didn’t want to see preachers behaving so messily. But where there’s drama there are viewers and so the Oxygen show is gearing up for a second season.

The preachers Clarence McClendon, Jay Haizlip, Noel Jones, Ron Gibson and Wayne Chaney will return to the show, picking up right where their lives left off with Deitrick Haddon.

Haddon, who serves as one of the executive producers of the show spoke to theJasmineBRAND.com about the reason the show is returning even after all of the controversy and what made Haddon come up with this idea in the first place.

Check out excerpts from their red carpet interview and then watch the video below.

What triggered the idea initially and what we can expect in the second season?

“Preachers of LA” is big you know–the idea came to me when I was in a rough place and I was like, ‘People will never know the truth about what I’ve gone through’. And the thing, it hit me, ‘You need to do a reality show’. And just be real about it…It was hard to find other preachers that were willing to be that transparent, but we found ‘em. Season 2–their gon’ turn it up to another level. We’re already shooting scenes that are gonna be crazy.

Why the show will return despite criticism?

We tried to get away from from it man,  because we had so much negative talk about it across the country. But the people demanded that we come back because there’s a crowd. There’s millions of people that want to know the flip side of ministry. What it really means to be a human being, with such a high calling. A lot of times when you’re being a human being, you’re gonna fall short. And uh, that’s what the show’s all about, being transparent.

Check out Deitrick as he talks about his concerns for the new cast on the spinoff show and whether or not the franchise will expand to other cities in the video below.

WHO GIVES A S..T. ALL A BUNCH OF CON ARTISTS !!!!!!!!!!

Bishop Gibson & Bishop Jay Haizlip seems to be the only authentic ministers of the entire bunch!!! Bishop Gibson & Haizlip both overcame drug addictions & have maintained healthy strong marriages for over 20 years, & they actually go out into the community to give back!! As I’ve said in the past, McClendon has “drama queen” written ALL over him, Bishop Noel Jones is a trip (LOL), & Deitrick Haddon, while I enjoy his music, he does too much “double talking” for me. However, I will tune in for season 2 for Gibson & Haizlip! BTW, controversy & God should NEVER be in the same sentence cause God does things in “decency & in order!”

He and this show make me want to simultaneously retch and explode out of my behind.

Something about him just makes me uneasy. He seems to have a very shady character. I’m not even just saying that because he’s a Preacher with dirt, he just seems like a dirty individual in general. Just my perception though.

That’s the gift of discernment at work! Because even before I knew a single thing about his personal life, ministry, etc I found myself having an aversion to him. It was like I was picking up on something being off about him without any reason for bias. And I know several other people who said the same thing before they knew anything about his life.

Something about this character really disgusts me. The peen pics and finding out fiancé was preggers again before they married, but pretending like they weren’t fornicating anymore. He is not a horrible person, but I don’t think he should pastor anymore.

    Booooooooo! Get off the stage.

I’m disturbed by his statement “they’re going to turn it to another level”…by doing what? I don’t want my pastor to be turnt up and acting a fool! This is a mess…

  • Gert

Maybe they should show the real struggles of Pastors and church leadership that don’t drive Bentleys and have 300K members. If they want the ministry to be transparent…they can start from there.

Why are they taping a second season of this show?
    That is all.

    Ugh. Good bye.
