African-American Hair Advice 101

February 11th, 2011 - By CO

Today’s long African-American hair ‘Tip of the Day’ discusses hairdressers, after the jump.

Styling African-American hair and keeping African-American hair healthy and long is a charge that many African-American and Dominican hairdressers are willing to take on.

But, our ‘long African-American hair’ tip of the day is to ask a hairdresser the right questions, before you commit to any one hairdresser. Ask the potential hair stylist how long he or she has been dealing with African-American hair growth issues, and how he or she can potentially help you grow your hair.

Your hair stylist’s responses should reflect a knowledge of African-American hair growth, the best African-American hair care products to use, as well some recommendations or more specifically a strategy for growing your hair to its desired length.

If your hairdresser can’t give you this information about how to maintain, grow and nourish your hair to your satisfaction, then move on until you find the right hairdresser. Don’t forget to ask for recommendations from people who know about great African-American hair stylists (and who have long, healthy African-American hair themselves).
