Britney Cosby and Crystal Jackson’s love was so strong that their family members called the couple soulmates. Sadly, their love and their lives were cut short recently as the two women were found murdered in Port Bolivar, Texas, their bodies left near a dumpster.
According to an ABC affiliate in Texas, family members said that the two women, both 24, who had been in a relationship for two years, left to go to Galveston for Mardi Gras last week. The couple took their trip in Cosby’s new 2006 Kia Sorrento, last speaking to their family on Wednesday. The women had been staying with Cosby’s great-grandmother before their trip, and she said she was alarmed at the fact that she didn’t hear anything from either of the women after they left.
By Friday, the bodies of both women were found near a convenience store dumpster (they were identified and the families were notified this week). Police say that the women’s bodies were moved after their murders, and that they were killed in different ways. Cosby died of blunt force trauma, while Jackson was shot to death. Because their bodies were moved near the garbage, many are wondering if the murders were a hate crime or if it was just a robbery. Cosby’s Kia Sorrento is missing, and police are hoping that if they can track that down, they can find the murderers. Until these questions can be answered, the family of these ladies continue to mourn, including Jackson’s sister, Lequetia Jackson.
“What did they do to you to kill my sister? You beat my sister up and you just, you messed her up to the point she can’t breath no more.”
Cosby’s sister, McDade Cosby, spoke as well, asking for those who hurt both women to do the right thing:
“Just come forward, just to give us closure as a family. Just come forward, ’cause we need closure at this point.”
And Crystal Jackson’s father, Reverend Ivan Jackson told a Fox Affiliate that despite his pain, he knows that God will handle things:
“I barely found out yesterday morning but I forgive whoever did it but let God take his course…She didn’t have an enemy in the world.
It’s very difficult, but by being a man of God, I have to stand.”
Crystal Jackson leaves behind a 5-year-old girl. To get more details on this sad story, check out the news video below from KTRK-TV in Houston:
