Mary Mary On Dress Controversy: “This Body Blesses My Husband, Which Helps Us Produce Baby Christians”

If conservative Christians thought they were going to slow Mary Mary down after slamming Erica Campbell for the form-fitting white dress she wore in a photo shoot not too long ago they were wrong. Though the gospel singer has already responded to the backlash several times in separate interviews, she shared a few more thoughts with us when we got her and her sister in the office last week. And, of course, Tina had to come to her baby sister’s defense:

“Being confident and feminine is sexy. If we were R&B singers they would say ‘Oh they’re going in a more conservative, wholesome direction,’ but because you’re singing gospel and you’ve got a body it’s a problem. God gave us this body. This body is what blesses my husband, which is what helps us produce baby Christians. What is the problem?”

    Tina is the baby sister and Erica is the big sister, maybe she should have worn a dress like that and it would have blessed her husband instead of someone else “blessing him”

    thats Mary Mary…they never been typical…I like the way that todays woman can relate to them, you got your Shirley Ceasars too which is more my aunts tastes. There is something for everyone in Christian music, that dress was no big deal other than she looked great in it.

    The problem is your supposed to reflect God if people can’t tell the difference between you and a secular artist there is a problem.
    The answer was somewhat a sexual response your body is supposed to be God’s temple.

      She’s married! I’m not understanding the problem with a married woman pleasing her husband and looking good. I tell you…. People are so judgemental. And you wonder why it’s hard to get people to understand the true meaning of being a disciple for the Lord. Everything you do seems to be judged by people who are not worthy of judging anyone.

        I think the problem is that people want to be Christians and still live sinner lifestyles. When someone says what the word says they are judging, but the truth is you aren’t ready to give whatever it is yet. I never judge anybody because I am not perfect, but I don’t have to judge because you tell me by your fruits (Matthew 7:16). If you producing bad fruit you are telling on yourself nobody is judging you, stop using that as an excuse because you don’t want to come out of what your in! C.R.E.A.M

    I don’t see why she was given such a hard time. I actually like mary mary. A lot of married christian women lose their sex appeal and spice trying to be sister mary clarence when that’s not what God wants. He made you, so he wants us to be sultry, sweet, and beauitiful.

      it’s probably because they are big. if they were thin like other MARRIED WOMEN *ahem* not gonna say who, then nobody would say anything. thin skinny mini women can get away with more revealing clothes. on bigger women it looks more provocative.

It is important for Christians to show others that we are Christians with our actions but also by the way we dress.
