In 2012, Jesse Jackson Jr. took an abrupt leave of office as a congressman. In August of that year, a statement was released saying that Jesse was undergoing treatment for bipolar II with severe bouts of depression. Jesse’s depression was debilitating, but according to the Mayo Clinic, Jesse has been responding well to treatment.
