Today is the day. The psychological thriller Repentance is coming to theaters. Recently, we had an opportunity to speak with Sanaa Lathan about her role in the film and how she prepared for it. In case you haven’t seen our other posts, this film boasts an all star cast, including Forest Whitaker, Anthony Mackie and Nicole Ari Parker. And Mike Epps is taking on a serious role this time around. She spoke about black actors getting a chance to participate in all the film genres. And whether or not she appreciates the “Black Film” label.

Since the film deals with mental health issues, we also asked Sanaa whether or not she feels like black folk are hesitant to seek psychological help. To which she responded, “I don’t know why because there’s a lot of crazy black muthafu***as.” No lie.

And lastly, she spoke about her other work including the third The Best Man and whether or not she’d ever do another Love & Basketball. Her answer may surprise you. Check out Sanaa’s interview above and then be sure to check out Repentance, in theaters today.
