Fun Times! Michelle Obama To Appear On “Parks And Recreation”

February 28, 2014  |

Have I told y’all how much I love Amy Poehler? She has a YouTube series which aims to encourage and inspire young girls, she’s hilarious (see: Baby Mama) and she seems like such a sweet spirit. I was late to the bandwagon and just started watching “Parks and Recreation” a couple of months ago. The show is awesome! There’s strong feminist rhetoric, the characters are all so lovable and diverse and the writing consistently has me shedding tears of laughter.

So I’m super pumped that two of my favorites are going to join forces.

According to letsmove.gov, First Lady Michelle Obama will make a special appearance on the season finale of the show which is set to air on Thursday, April 24.

Mrs. Obama’s scene in the upcoming episode was shot this month in Miami where she celebrated investments in healthier out-of-school programs as a part of the “Let’s Move” campaign.

Mrs. Obama won’t be the first real political figure to appear on the show’s government based sitcom. Vice President Joe Biden, Senator John McCain, California Senator Barbara Boxer and Maine’s Senator Olympia Snowe have also taken part in the show’s filming.

If you’ve never seen the show, “Parks and Recreation,” which we true fans call “Parks and Rec,” follows the career of city councilwoman Leslie Knope, played by Poehler, in a small town called Pawnee, Indiana.

“Parks and Recreation” airs every Thursday at 9pm, 8c. There aren’t adequate words to describe my excitement, so I’ll allow Leslie to do it for me in the gif below:

Are you a fan of this show? Will you be watching the First Lady’s episode?
