Celebs Who Popped Up Pregnant Out Of Nowhere
In this day and age where a celebrity’s every move can be well chronicled, somehow these celebrities managed to surprise us all by popping up pregnant out of nowhere. No announcement, no save the date, just them, the red carpet, and a baby bump.Source: Getty
Lil Kim reigned as the Queen Bee of rap in the late 90’s. Although her career took a nosedive following a jail stint for lying under oath, the diminutive star still managed to release new music. She may not be the hottest female rapper around anymore but the Brooklyn emcee will have a new title to her name. Lil Kim popped up at an event during New York Fashion Week earlier this month with a big bun in the oven. She’s a few months into the pregnancy and her boyfriend and daddy to be Mr. Papers revealed she is having a baby boy.
Hip-hop’s most powerful couple has always been fiercely guarded about their private life. Jay Z and Beyonce dated for several years before tying the knot in a small ceremony back in 2008. Once word got out about their nuptials, the world was waiting for the former Destiny’s Child to have a baby HOV. Three years later, Queen Bey took the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards and before she performed her song “Love On Top,” she said, “Tonight I want you to stand up on your feet, I want you to feel the love that’s growing inside of me.” At the end of the performance, she unbuttoned her blazer and revealed her baby bump.
Kerry Washington’s professional career has been in overdrive ever since “Scandal” debuted. While the show has gotten more popular with every passing episode, so has Kerry. Though the actress was on the cover of numerous magazines and in hot demand in 2013, she was quiet about her personal life. That’s why fans of the show were shocked to find out Kerry up and married former NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha in secrecy in June 2013. It really shouldn’t have been much of a shock that, without warning, the 37-year-old actress showed up with a visible baby bump at the 2014 Golden Globe awards this past January.
Amber Rose found her partner in life with rapper Wiz Khalifa. The couple started in early 2011 and things got serious between the two quickly. Following Beyonce’s example from the previous year, the Pittsburgh rapper was all too happy to announce the news that his lady was pregnant at the MTV Video Music Awards: “Well, Sway, you know you my brother man, so we had to do it with you first and we had to do it with the whole world, and just let everybody know that we’re expecting a beautiful young baby,” Khalifa said, before screaming, “We’re having a baby!” Their son Sebastian Taylor Thomaz was born in February 2013.
Ciara’s singing career has struggled as of late and working to reignite her career, the “Goodies” singer recruited singer/songwriter Future for help. Their working relationship quickly progressed into something more and before long, the two were a hot item. Speculation that the R&B singer was pregnant swirled around but both Ciara and Future were silent. During an interview on ABC’s “The View” last month, Ciara stood up, unbuttoned her overjacket and revealed her baby bump. The couple got engaged back in October.
Sienna Miller’s love life has been well scrutinized by the media. She became a hot topic after her then-husband Jude Law was caught creeping with the children’s nanny. Miller sparked her own cheating rumors when word of her and Daniel Craig sleeping together started to spread. After moving on from Law, Miller started dating actor Tom Sturridge in 2011. Art gallery goers were in for a surprise when Miller showed up to an opening in New York City sporting a small baby bump. Miller gave birth to daughter Marlowe in London in July 2012.
Actress Kate Hudson married first husband and rocker Chris Robinson in 2000 but one son and seven years later, the couple was headed to divorce court. Hudson eventually moved on from the marriage and began dating Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy in 2010. Less than a year later, Hudson’s mom and actress Goldie Hawn spilled the beans that her daughter and Bellamy were expecting a child together. Soon after Hudson was seen around town with a diamond on her ring finger. Hudson gave birth to her second son Bingham in July 2011.
R&B singer Monica signed her first record deal at the ripe old age of 11 and since then she’s gone on to release seven albums throughout her career. Working for much of her life, the “So Gone” singer has taken a break to raise her family. A mother to two boys from a previous relationship, Monica tied the knot to NBA player Shannon Brown in 2010. She shocked the audience last May by showing up to a Chattanooga, TN show five months pregnant. Monica gave birth to her and Shannon’s first child together, a daughter, in September.
Gwen Stefani traveled the world ten times over as part of the group No Doubt before branching out in her own solo career. Finally ready to settle down to start a family, the “Hollaback Girl” singer married fellow rocker Gavin Rossdale in 2002. She gave birth to her first child several years later and soon popped out another one. Last fall, word started to spread that the 44-year-old mom of two was pregnant yet again and confirming the buzz that was swirling around her, Stefani stepped out at the Wallis Annenberg Center For The Performing Arts Inaugural Gala in Beverly Hills with a sizeable belly bump. Last month Stefani confirmed that her third child will be another boy.
Angelina Jolie wasn’t shy about showing her feelings for her ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton. The two were frequently caught by the paparazzi in the throws of public displays of affection. But now older, and perhaps more mature, Jolie has been guarded about her relationship with fellow actor Brad Pitt, so it was a shock when funny man Jack Black spilled the beans that the Mr. & Mrs. Smith star was pregnant at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival. Two months later she gave birth to twins Knox and Vivienne.
Before joining the third season of Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Phaedra Parks was perhaps best known for representing R&B’s bad boy Bobby Brown in the courtroom. Parks was pregnant with her first child on the show and it was a topic of discussion as far as how far along she really was but when it came to her second pregnancy, the Georgia peach showed up at Bravo’s upfronts last April and let her huge belly bump do all the talking. Parks ended up giving birth a few weeks earlier than her scheduled date via an emergency C-section.
Yaya Dacosta was this close to winning “America’s Next Top Model” but lost out to Eva Pigford (now Marcille). Coming in second place, the Harlem beauty still had a successful career before tying the knot to film director Joshua Bee Alafia in 2012. During the premiere of “Lee Daniels’ The Butler” last summer, a glowing DaCosta walked the red carpet with proud husband who was cradling her baby bump. The happy couple welcomed son Sankara into the world September 2013.
It’s hard for a superstar celebrity to pull the wool over our eyes but when it came to her personal life, singer Mariah Carey has managed to do it not once but twice. After a very short time dating, Mimi and Nick Cannon decided to elope in a small and “very impulsive” ceremony in the Bahamas in April 2008. Soon after, the world was on baby watch. Carey, being the ultimate diva, first announced she was going to be a mother to President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama by showing up at a holiday event in Washington, DC pregnant. The former “American Idol” judge gave birth to twins Marilyn Monroe and Moroccan Scott on the couple’s fourth wedding anniversary.
Fantasia shot to stardom after winning the third season of Fox’s “American Idol.” The R&B singer and her family became the focus of “Fantasia For Real” but missing from the reality show was Fantasia’s significant other. Most of us thought the “Free Yourself” singer was single but few people actually knew that Fantasia was creeping around with a married man. Word began to spread that Fanny was pregnant but her and her camp were silent until she popped up an outdoor concert in Jacksonville, FL, with a swollen belly. “You are the first person that I share this news with, and I share this with you because I can relate to you,” Barrino told the crowd. “And for a while I walked around figuring out ‘What will they say and what will they think about me?’ But now I tell you I don’t live my life for folk.”
