Kandi, Mama Joyce And Todd Hash Out Their Family Drama On ‘The View’
The emotional tug of war known as the Kandi Burruss, Todd Tucker and Mama Joyce saga ensues. The trio appeared on “The View” today and though they spoke calmly to one another, no one really seems to be budging on how they’re feeling about the situation, namely Mama Joyce.
“Well, really Todd seems like a very nice person,” Joyce explained. “When I met him he seemed like a very nice person. But I have a problem with after his first job, which was doing the Kim and Kroy wedding, he took like two months off. Now, I come from a family of men that work. I had a problem with that, you know? And also, he said that he was using part of his savings and when you’re already to me, stepping up, I feel like you don’t need to use part of your savings to take two months off.”
Though he remained calm, Todd, who clearly appears to be at his wits’ end with all of the drama, explained that Joyce’s attempts to break up their engagement are taking a toll on his family.
“I think everyone has a breaking point,” he expressed.”The lies, that stuff is really tough. I have a mom and it affects my mother. It affects my daughter. It affects Kandi’s daughter. The other day Kandi’s daughter told Kandi ‘I don’t like that he said he would leave you.'”
Interestingly, “View” host Whoopi Goldberg chimed in, suggesting that Joyce pull back a bit and allow Kandi to make some of her own mistakes.
“Now okay, you and I are minutes apart in terms of age. We don’t have time for this mess. Let her make the mistake, if she’s gonna make the mistake. You gotta let her do it. You can’t do this for her. We listened kind of to our parents, but we had to make our own mistakes. She gotta do it.”
Joyce, however, refused to waver and argued that her granddaughter, Riley, is the reason she refuses to just let go.
“It’s not all about that. If it was just Kandi, I would agree with you. But Kandi has a daughter. And that’s who I’m worried about.”
She also pointed out that she found it quite odd that Todd expressed so much concern for Kandi’s friend Carmon and her son during his recent appearance on “Watch What Happens Live.” For the most part, Todd and Joyce were able to keep their composure, but poor Kandi couldn’t hold it together at certain points during the interview and shed a few tears over her mother’s inability to allow her to live her life.
“It is very frustrating. I love my mother to death. I do feel like Ma, you had kids too. Your mother didn’t interfere with your relationships. I just feel like you treat me like I am just stupid and I have no sense of responsibility and I don’t think that’s fair.”
Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that Joyce will ever be okay with this relationship.
