Judge Grants Request To Delay Apollo Nida Bank Fraud Trial Until March
It appears that Apollo Nida’s defense team is looking to buy time in his bank fraud trial and it looks like their attempts have been successful thus far. Earlier this month, lawyers on behalf of the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star requested for “an extension of time up to and including March 25, 2014,” explaining that the extension “will allow the parties sufficient time to discuss a potential resolution of this case.” It would also help the defense to further review the case and decide whether or not it’s best for Apollo to stand trial or accept some sort of plea deal.
Apparently their wish for an extension has been granted. According to RadarOnline, a judge approved their motion on Feb. 14.
“The Court finds that the ends of justice served by granting the motion to continue outweighs the public’s and defendant’s interest in a speedy trial,” court documents read. “Specifically, this delay will allow the parties time necessary to discuss a resolution of the allegations.”
The trial is set to continue March 25, 2014. If he goes to trial and is convicted, Apollo faces several years in prison. There’s no telling how this situation will play out, but things are looking pretty bad on Apollo’s part. As with anything else, we will continue to keep you posted as this story develops.
