Seven Democratic politicians have now jumped ship and switched parties. On Thursday, Hall County Commissioner Ashley Bell became the seventh Democrat to make the switch to the GOP. Bell was a super delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 2004, and he is the first African-American elected official to switch parties since the general election. The move gives Republicans a wider political margin in the state of Georgia.
