Where are the funny Black Women?

January 31st, 2011 - By Veronica Wells

If you’re a fan of  comedic sketch shows like Saturday Night Live or Mad TV, you’ll notice something is missing. We’ll give you a hint, it’s female and black! While SNL has a couple of brothers in the cast, it’s missing the darker female presence. We love and miss the talented Maya Rudolph on the show! We know there are some funny sisters out there; so can we get some love? Here are some women who could possibly fill that slot…

As always Madame Noire, you guys lure me with the tagline and DISAPPOINT with the content. You guys have so much access too wide range of readers for the content on the site to be so utterly sub par…DO BETTER!

This really is a weak list. The only woman I think is good enough to fit in on SNL would be Regina Hall. Otherwise, ya'll are just throwing darts in the dark with a blindfold on. Raven Symone would be an even better fit. She's funny and versatile as well as easy on the eyes. Plus she's light-skin and SNL would be more likely to hire her than a chocolate sista, unfortunately.

I completely agree…Aisha Taylor is whack! All her material is about how she's (wait for it) a blk woman who is married to a white man or how she acts white. She could be so much funnier, I always get my hopes up, but she sux…where is the nuance? Her schtick isn't cutting edge/fresh or funny.

How about Comedian Vanessa Fraction a really funny sister as seen on Barbershop 2, HBO Def Comedy Jam, The Funny Spot, Mike Epps Presents, so many more and she is also the newest female writer for the Monqiue Show! http://www.vanessafraction.com

This list makes zero sense. The people on SNL are known for their comedic timing and sometimes even their contributions to comedic writing. When have Keke and Jurnee shown any talent in live, on the fly, sketch comedy?? This just looks like a list of Black women you guys think need work mixed in with a few actually comediennes.

I don't think you guys made this list right….

    Raven-Symone is gunny
    Whoopi Goldberg is funny
    Monique is funny
