Staycations for the Fun-Seeking Thousandaire

January 27th, 2011 - By Khadija Allen

1. Go to the history museum or art gallery

You probably haven’t taken a whole day to explore a city’s museums and art galleries in ages.  It maybe something new and refreshing for someone who hasn’t explored the depths of a pioneer’s art or a historical figure’s progressive thinking.  Most museums have particular days or hours where there is no entry fee, so be on the look out for that.

I used the term "thousandaire" when I had much debt and little cash, but a staycation is a way of staying put and being thankful for what you have. I used that time to learn to garden, plant flowers, get to know neighbors. At least my home is pleasant enough to have a staycation.

Great post. I got some new ideas that I'll definitely try. Unfortunately for me, my apartment is not pleasant enough for a staycation but I live in Washington D.C. where there are tons of museums, galleries, etc to look at.
