How does one grow long African-American hair? The luscious African-American fro?

In previous weeks, we brought you tips that were designed to boost African-American hair growth and add shine to those long African-American locks! Today, we’re bringing you two main elements that you must cut from your regimen, if your mission is to grow long African-American hair!

The two elements should be marked as elements of ancient elements in the history of African-American hair:

LYE

To lye or not to lye? To grow long African-American hair, the answer is always not to lye. Perms containing lye will certainly wreak havoc on African-American hair, and prevent it from achieving that length you desire.

THE HOT COMB

Congrats if you’ve gotten through the no-lye process in the arena of African-American hair. But, if you have natural African-American hair and you’re trying to wear the straight look, don’t fall into the trap of the hot comb! The snagging of African-American hair is common with the use of hot combs and excessive blow drying.
Stay tuned for more tips on how to boost and grow long African-American hair!

It is said that no-lye is better on the scalp but harsh on the hair dry. Lye is better for the hair, but can be harsh on the scalp. It is best to go to a professional to get a conditioning lye relaxer. My stylist uses Affirm Fiberguard and my hair is so healthy. The key is to not over process your hair. I’m now stretching my touch ups to 16 weeks and am on the journey to texlaxed hair.

    Hi there-

You know what's funny? When I used lye relaxers, my hair thrived. It didn't break like when I used no-lye relaxers.

Even still, no chemicals are best for the hair and the scalp. I'm 6 years natural!
