(AJC) — Next year’s expenses are projected to far outweigh revenue in Fulton County, and a working 2011 budget would compensate by dipping into reserves for $72.4 million, depleting the total fund by 64 percent.  The move would keep the county tax rate where it has been since 2007, and the plan says nothing about layoffs or furloughs. Commissioner Lynne Riley, who will soon move to theLegislature, called the proposal ludicrous. The budget should be balanced by trimming services and expenses, she said, and any extra money should go toward infrastructure improvements, such as taking care of leaks, molding, and heating and air problems at the downtown government center and several libraries.
