Long African-American Hair Dos & Don’ts

January 20th, 2011 - By CO

Here’s some advice for growing long African-American hair. The myth that African-American hair only grows to a certain length is just that: myth. By following these four simple rules, African-American hair can grow long and supple.

DO

- Keep hair moisturized, if you’re interested in growing long African-American hair. Since African-American hair is dry, it can break when neglected and kept brittle. Use African-American hair products rich in vitamins and supplements.

DO

- Pre-wash long African-American hair on a weekly basis, with a product that contains coconut oil. This oil promotes long African-American hair because it actually penetrates the scalp.

DON’T

- Buy African-American hair care products that contain alcohol, as they are sure to strip African-American hair of its nutrients and suppleness. Remember that alcohol can dry out African-American hair, which already tends to be dry.

DON’T
- Let long African-American hair roam free while you sleep. Wear a silk cap or scarf for protection of your hair strands.
