Style To Steal Or Girl, Stop: Alicia Keys Slays, Amber Rose Tans And What Is On Pharrell’s Head?

Aside from picking up awards and watching some dope (and sometimes wack) performances, the Grammys are always good for fashion. It’s the night for stars to dress up like the rock stars they are–or to come out the house looking a mess. You never know what you’ll get. Let’s take a look at some fashions that had us talking and made us want to steal the looks or stop them dead in their tracks.

Erica Campbell

I guess after all that random backlash Erica Campbell received from some about the tight white dress she wore in a photoshoot for a new single, Campbell decided to stay covered up. She hit the red carpet with her daughter in this pink lace ensemble, and while I’m loving the hair and the makeup, I get “First Lady” vibe from this look. That’s not a bad thing…just not a good thing for the Grammys. Stop.

Bey decided to put some clothes on after that steamy opening performance, and her choice was actually pretty fabulous. Her white Michael Costello gown revealed a bit of skin but also dazzled with its prints. I dig the haircut, but the color makes her hair look a bit dry. Otherwise, she’s looking good. Steal!

Rocsi Diaz

The Entertainment Tonight correspondent showed some leg as she hit the red carpet in a white hot above-the-knee dress with pointed-toe black pumps and a bright red lip. She kept the hair down with a slight hint of wave, altogether making for a casual look that really isn’t what I would have expected for the Grammys. Not crazy about it, but I don’t hate it. Reluctant stop.

Paula Patton

I know Paula is supposed to be wearing Giorgio Armani, but honestly, I’m getting a Cirque du Soleil vibe from this whole look. Her David Yurman jewels were nice though, and the hair is cute, but the dress (and the fishtail bottom) is just killing me softly. Stop!

Fantasia Barrino

Rocking a revealing lace Isabela Toledo gown, Fantasia stepped on the carpet looking quite cute. Not sure what the necklace she has on is about, but with the short haircut and droplet earrings, homegirl looked the best I’ve seen her at a red carpet event. Kudos to whoever is styling her these days. Steal!

Chrisette Michele

This look is everything. Is it Grammy red carpet worthy though? The mix of color and prints (and that blonde coif of hers) is pretty fabulous, I just always find this type of occasion the time to put on a gown. But I do love this though. Steal! But for a more laid back event…

Alicia Keys

Stunning much? But seriously, the shade of blue used for Keys’ Giorgio Armani gown is quite beautiful. The makeup could have been much brighter, but otherwise, I’m loving the look. Steal!

Amber Rose

If you’re wondering why Amber Rose looks a bit more bronzed than usual, blame it on the fact that she made an effort to cover up all her tattoos for the red carpet with makeup. Guess she wanted her Naeem Khan gown to have all the attention, and for good reason…that body is banging in this gold dress! Steal!

We already told you that Ciara looked flawless, but for another look…Ciara rocked a custom made Emilio Pucci gown to show off her belly bump (and those maternity boobs), and while we weren’t crazy for the hair, she looked pretty amazing. Steal!

Well look who stepped out to enjoy the Grammy festivities! After rocking a very extravagant (and panned) black gown to the awards last year, Ashanti kept it short and chic this time around. Once again, it’s not a bad look, but it seems more for clubbing in Miami than red carpet award appearances. She does look good, but I’ll pass on the look…Stop.

Tamar and Vince

You can’t really see it well in this picture (sorry, Getty was playing games), but Tamar was rocking a gorgeous strapless Michael Costello gown as she walked the red carpet with her man Vince. And can we talk about how fabulous the short bob is on her compared to the overpowering bright blond hair we’re so used to seeing? Slay honey!

Some guys came super casual, others came in their most dapper ensembles of the year. Kevin Hart looked great in Lanvin, while Miguel and his liquid leggings and Miss Jessie’s approved hair kind of had us scratching our heads. Also, while I love Kendrick, his Dior ensemble (with the silk camisole) was a no no. And John Legend looked great next to his stunning wife, Chrissy Teigen. But we’re still trying to figure out what the hell was on Pharrell’s head all night and why Cee Lo wearing a slip?

Am i the only one that thinks fantasia was dressed like the floor manager at T.J maxx…..that red rope that lace thing she had on and i say thing because i truly do not know what else to call what she had on

  • mikki21

What’s up with the dirty blond with the dark roots?????? I think they all have the same stylist. Ms. Michelle was so original. Everyone else is all the same. Sad!!

  • sistazmia

Erica Campbell is damm if she does and damm if she don’t. That’s the way this world is.

  • Dee

IDK but I feel Beyonce could have done better. I feel like as an artist, she is more established and just overall more classy (well was anyway) than what she has been giving us lately. The dress is reminiscent of something rihanna would wear. No offense to Rih or anything, but her and Bey are (well were) on different levels. Give be classy Bey back!!!

  • ericamissamerica

Did I miss something here? Alicia looks absolutely miserable. She always looks uncomfortable in women’s clothing. She looks like a gay woman that is trying to fit into society’s standards. No shade, for real. Her and Swizz have zero chemistry.

    • MonicaT

Love Chrisette’s look very chic and love the prints! Love Love her natural!!!!! Alicia did look very uncomfortable in that dress and less feminime. The blond showing the dark roots (boob) is so over done!!!!!

so basically u don’t like blonde bobs parted in the middle because u didn’t have anything to say about the ones with the side swoop…i thought C & B’s hair both looked nice.

  • Wanda Simpson

Michael Costello from Project Runway really dressed the ladies for this grammys, he should have won the Runway but he is making it work where it really counts. kudos to him.

  • LaLa

I liked Beyonce’s dress, liked Chrissette Michelle’s outfit. I did not like Fantasia’s dress, though I suppose the red necklace was to add a pop of color. I did not like Paula’s dress at all – the pattern was not flattering to her. This is the most “Braxton” Tamar has looked to me – I immediately see big sis Towanda when seeing her in that picture. What was the deal with all of the fishtails and long lengths? It doesn’t suit everyone.

  • Tee Elyse

I loved Bey’s dress. And I’m not even gonna get on Pharrell’s park ranger hat!!

  • FeelsGood

Not a fan of the print, but I love what Chrissy is wearing. Then again, I’m biased when it comes to her! Paula/Fantasia…umm….just no.

  • I_am_a_Gladiator/Scandalista

This was Erica’s chance to wear something more slay-able. Especially to help promote her solo career and have people looking like, “Who is this woman? She’s fierce!” She missed it. I looove Beyonce’s dress but her hair and the color lipstick made her look old and washed out. It’s time to darken the blonde some. Maybe even a strawberry blonde? Chrisette Michele, yaaas darling! Whats up to ol dude photo bombing you in the background! Alicia? Meh. Amber Rose looked pretty. Ashanti….your hair was cute. Rocsi, Paula P. and Pharrell (aka Smokey The Bear) were worst dressed. Ciara and Colbie Calliat were best dressed of the evening IMO.
P.S. Designer Michael Costello is winning this year!
P.S.S. Who was the lady with Kendrick????

  • At A Crossroads

Erica looked good too. Paula’s dress was ugly.

  • At A Crossroads

What is up with the blond and dark roots? Damn near everybody has that look. Beyonce’s hair was wack. But love the dress. So was Alicia’s hair. And her dress wasnt all that but I love the color. Fantasia’s dress wasnt bad, but it was too old looking for her. Pretty much everyone’s hair was wack. Ashanti looked weird in that pic. Loved Ciara’s dress but that hair was terrible. Tamar looked good bit she’s another one with the blond and dark roots. Amber looked nice but extremely shiny. Roxy looked boring. I don’t really like Chrisette Michelle’s look either. Everyone either had a fabulous dress and ugly hair. Or a boring ensemble with ugly hair.

Thank you! I thought fashion/style/glamour was supposed to be about the individual wearer. Tamar, Ciara, Ashanti, and Beyoncé all had the same overall look to their hair. If you’re going to wear the same hair, might as well wear the same dress, too. What’s the point of going to a fashion-conscious event if you don’t make an effort to look like you and ONLY you.

  • Nicole Jazzette Johnson

Erica looks gorgeous in this gown. It covers no more than the stated white dress she wore that received so much criticism. She looks good and those that didn’t like it probably would have preferred her in sackcloth anyway.. Haters!!!

  • Nicole Jazzette Johnson

QQn Fantasia looked a hot mess in this get-up stylist should be fired ASAP….

  • Maggie

Finally Beyonce is wearing something that doesn’t look like her mother dressed her.
