Web Series “The Couple” Headed To TV As Black & S*xy TV Nab Deal With HBO
Another win for web series!
According to Jetmag.com, with Spike Lee as an executive producer, Black & S*xy TV’s hit web series, The Couple, has nabbed a deal with HBO. Jet says that word of the deal was made known during an event at the Sundance Film Festival, when the good folks behind Black & S*xy TV, Numa Perrier and Dennis Dortch, were asked about moving content like their show into different media platforms. Perrier confirmed with Jet this afternoon that a deal had been made with HBO.
We actually highlighted the series as one of 10 awesome web series to check out (and we’ve actually been featured in a past episode!). But if you haven’t been tuning in, you should because it explores quite a few of the issues couples deal with (and how they’re made more difficult by cohabitation), and does so in a pretty hilarious manner with the help of the characters, Chick (Perrier) and Dude (Desmond Faison). As the tag line for the show says, “There’s dating…and then there’s living together.” Hey, you can watch all the episodes in a little over two hours on YouTube. Just a thought.
This is another big win for the series, which through a Kickstarter campaign, managed to obtain more than $30,000 to surpass its goal and have a film made surrounding the show. We’re not sure what will surface first between the film and the HBO series, but either way, we’ll be supporting. Congratulations to Perrier and Dortch and all the folks at Black & S*xy TV.
