I’m not sure why I find this to be so funny, but there’s a young comedian by the name of Brando Murphy, who has supposedly been insinuating that he’s the offspring of famed comedian and actor Eddie Murphy. According to TMZ, Eddie is not at all thrilled about the not-so-subtle hints that Brandon has been dropping and has threatened to take legal action against the up-and-comer.
In a cease and desist letter that is addressed to Brando and said to be written by Eddie’s attorney, Marty Singer, Brando is accused of changing his last name to Murphy, performing with Richard Pryor’s son, Mason, in the “Sons of Comedy” tour and showing up to the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf—a café that Eddie frequents—and screaming, “My father won’t talk to me!” Eddie and Marty are reportedly threatening to sue Brando for millions if he doesn’t knock it off.
Brando, however, is not backing down. He reportedly responded to Marty and Eddie’s letter with a few threats of his own. According to Brando, he never presented himself as Eddie’s son and called their accusations “vile, base, contemptible, miserable, wretched and loathsome.” In turn, Brando says he will sue Eddie for defamation if he continues with the accusations and his “campaign of intimidation.”
Ha! How bizarre is this story?
