One would imagine that there’s still some sort of unspoken beef between Ashanti and 50 Cent after he called her out on several diss tracks during the early 2000s. If you recall, 50’s G-Unit camp got into an ugly feud with Murder Inc. and no one was safe—not even the Inc.’s “princess,” Ashanti. Though he frequently attacked her during his verbal tirades back in the day, Ashanti says that all is well between she and 50 thanks to her ex-boo, Nelly.

“I would see 50 every now and again and I never had a problem,” Ashanti recently told DJ Whoo Kidd. “He didn’t seem like he had a problem.”

According to the “Never Should’ve” singer, Nelly requested that 50 apologize to “his girl” one year at the VMAs.

“The first time we [me and 50] kind of ‘spoke’ so to speak, we were at the VMA’s in Vegas and Nelly was like ‘Yo, you need to apologize to my girl.’”

Apparently the exchange occurred in front a big group of people and to be honest, we’re pretty shocked that 50 didn’t just add Nelly to his hit list. But instead, he simply apologized to her.

“We were in front of everybody and you know, 50 has a personality, he was like ‘Ashanti I’m sorry! I’m sorry, Ashanti!’ And everybody was dying laughing.”

“Obviously, everybody knew about the beef, G-Unit, Murder Inc. It wasn’t anything personal. It was explained to me that sometimes you’re guilty by association. It’s part of what happens.”

And that’s how Nelly defended Ashanti’s honor against the big, bad Curtis Jackson.
