It’s hard to really stick up for Karrueche Tran these days. I’ve often encountered people throughout the years who make jokes about her and her name, or literally just read her for filth anytime she steps on a red carpet or is seen with Chris Brown. I’ll say, “Dang! Why do ya’ll drag this girl so hard???” and most media folks will just respond with a “because…” or a “girl, bye.” But with antics like this, Tran isn’t really making things any easier for herself…
What happened was that Tran was preparing for a flight home a couple of days ago when she posted the following picture to her Instagram:
Dry humor doesn’t really connect with my brain fast so when I saw the post and I saw folks were upset, I randomly thought to myself, I don’t get it, I’ve seen this coloring book at Urban Outfitters plenty of times and it’s cute…
But then seconds later I thought, Hold up–Aaliyah coloring book? Plane? Oh hell no…
The photo has since been taken down. Tran actually admitted that it was “just a joke” when people slammed her on social media after the fact. She, of course, got defensive and joked about folks wishing her harm and that her plane would crash:
I just don’t get people and the Aaliyah jokes. I’m not saying you can’t say anything about the gal and that she’s untouchable (though they do say you shouldn’t speak ill of the dead), but why do some think it’s humorous to make light of someone losing their life in a plane crash? I’m going to have to throw my own “girl, bye” her way because she should have known better. But what do you think? Were folks overreacting or was she ignorant for this?
