We told you earlier in the month about the criticism Mary Mary’s Erica Campbell received from some for wearing a tight dress for the cover of her new single, “A Little More Jesus.” The white dress covered her neck and even went below her knees, but because it hugged her curves quite well, some felt that as a woman who sings the word of God, she was doing a bit too much.

But gospel singer Yolanda Adams recently told Think Positive magazine (via S2S) that singing the word of God or not, curvy gospel singers have the right to wear what they want, and should just take such criticism with a grain of salt.

“I know for a fact that Mary Mary—because I’ve known them for years—they don’t try to be sexual. Some of the things that they want to wear, they’re in style.”

Adams says that many gospel singers, including herself of course, are curvy, and while they want to be tasteful, they don’t want to be in burlap sacks either.

“I’m very respectful in everything I wear. I think about it.

I’m tall. I’m thin, but I have hips. A gown my graze me in a place where somebody may find it offensive, but it’s not sexual. That was not my intent. We can’t walk around with sheets on and moomoos. Then, they’ll talk about [that]. You have to take criticism with a grain of salt because you’re never going to please everybody.”

Ain’t that the truth! What do you think? Do women of God get a bad rap too much for trying to wear things that might be a little bit more on the s*xy side?
