Update: Judge Bans Shaunie O’Neal From Featuring Kids On New Reality Show Until Hearing Date
Update 1:10 p.m.
A judge has blocked Shaunie O’Neal’s emergency request to feature her children in her new VH1 reality show, “The Shaunie O’Neal Project,” which is scheduled to begin filming during the first week of January. Shaquille O’Neal, Shaunie’s ex-husband, is not comfortable with the idea of her inviting TV cameras into her home to exploit their children. An official decision regarding whether or not the children will appear in the show will be made during a future court hearing. The actual date of that hearing has not yet been disclosed.

Though all seemed to be well on the Shaq-Shaunie O’Neal homefront after their 2011 divorce, it looks like the famous exes have hit a huge bump in the co-parenting road. We’re all pretty aware that Shaunie’s Basketball Wives empire is basically on life support, so it’s not surprise that she’s exploring other options to keep her career thriving. According to TMZ, the 39-year-old mom of five is working with VH1 for a new reality show titled, “The Shaunie Project,” which will supposedly highlight her life as a mother. Unfortunately for Shaunie, her ex-hubby isn’t feeling the idea.
Sources close to the situation say that the retired NBA star refuses to stand around while his ex-wife allows producers to exploit the dysfunction of their family. Shaq has also reportedly been questioning Shaunie’s character and judgement, as she vowed to never feature violence on “Basketball Wives,” but eventually changed her mind and proceeded to feature fights. On the other hand, Shaunie is reportedly insisting that the show will be completely wholesome and a reality TV version of “The Cosby Show.” Shaq, however, is standing his ground, insisting that nothing good can become of putting their children on TV so as a result, the former lovers are heading to court.
Shaunie is requesting an emergency order that will allow her to feature the kids on the show, which is reportedly scheduled to begin filming during the first week in January. We are so tuning in to see how this plays out. We will keep you posted as this story develops.
Do you think Shaq is right?
