Somebody Call The Real Olivia Pope: The Biggest Scandals Of 2013

The year would not be complete without a countdown of the messiness that surpassed over the past 12 months. Here are the biggest scandals of 2013.

The N-Bomb

When the National Enquirer leaked a video of Paula Dean admitting to using the n-word and dreaming about a wedding catered by slaves, her career came to a screeching halt. Sure she tried to apologize, but there are some things “sorry” just doesn’t cover.

Twerk Gate

There are a lot of people who wish they could un-see Miley Cyrus twerking on Robin Thicke in vinyl underwear.

Crack Attack

We knew something was up with Lamar Odom for a while. Turns out, that “something” was an $800 a day crack habit that was tearing up his marriage. Lamar’s going to go into 2014 minus a wife, but somehow he managed to hang on to his NBA career.

The Leg Drop

Everyone watching the Billboard Music Awards flatlined at once when Miguel flew through the air and landed on a chick in the audience. Then he pulled a Beyonce and kept right on singing without checking to see if the girl was OK or anything. I guess true divas don’t stop for on-stage casualties.

In October, TLC brought up some real old ish when they exposed Pebbles’ shady Pebbitone contract. Thanks to her shady dealings, the platinum artists were forced to live on $25 a week and drive hoopties before the eventually had to file for bankruptcy at the height of their careers. Pebbles won’t live this one down anytime soon.

Lolo Jones’ Classless Moment

Lolo Jones’ behavior was so tacky, we had to put her on the list. In case you missed it, the former Olympian released this Tweet making fun of Rachel Jeantel’s struggle to testify on Trayvon Martin’s behalf.

“Rachel Jeantel looked so irritated during the cross-examination that I burned it on DVD and I’m going to sell it as Madea goes to court.”

Just ugly.

Shopping At Barneys

Jay Z lost more than a few fans when he decided to keep working with Barneys even after they had a young black man arrested for shopping while black.

We don’t know what is going on with Kanye in 2013. He brought Jesus on stage, wifed one of the world’s most hated celebrities and released “Bound 2.” Now he can’t fill a stadium to save his career.

Chris Brown

When is Chris Brown going to stop keeping it real until it goes wrong? He started the year fighting Frank Ocean outside the studio and ended it getting kicked out of rehab for throwing a rock at his mama’s car. We have a bad feeling he’s going to get worse before he gets better.

Crack Attack Part Two

Lamar Odom isn’t the only rock star on our list. Toronto Mayor Rob Ford was caught on tape smoking crack with gang members. But the most scandalous part of the whole ordeal was that not only did he refuse to step down from office, his popularity has actually gone up. We wonder what would have happened if Marion Barry tried that.

Aswad Ayinde’s Quest for a “Pure Bloodline”

Speaking of crack, what were the Fugees smoking? First we found out Lauryn was a member of a cult. Now the Fugees’ former manager Aswad Ayinde is doing 90 years for raping and impregnating his daughters to create a “pure” bloodline that would survive Doomsday. That’s a special kind of crazy.

Pastor Rodney Carr

A close second for most upsetting sexual misconduct is Pastor Rodney Carr. The 47-year-old preacher was caught hooking up with women on even though he knew he had AIDS and was awaiting trial for spreading it to other women.

The Jackson’s Broken Legacy

Jesse Jackson, Jr.’s political career survived his bipolar diagnosis and his role in selling Obama’s Senate seat. But when he spent $750,000 in campaign funds for furs, home renovations and watches, he landed a spot on 2013’s biggest scandals and a cell in jail.

The Sign

We don’t know who hired former mental patient Thamsanqa Jantjie to “sign” at Nelson Mandela’s funeral, but they’re probably out of a job now.
