“R&B Divas LA” is about to get rather interesting as TV One just announced some new divas are joining the crew — and two veterans are on their way out.
Super soul singers Chrisette Michelle and Leela James have just been announced as the cast’s two newest members. D’Angela Proctor, Senior Vice President of Programming and Production for TV One, said in a news release:
“The debut season of R&B Divas LA set the tone as a series all about glamour and high-stakes drama. As we gear up to shoot season two, we anticipate that the addition of two lovely and respected solo artists, Chrisette and Leela, will build upon the impassioned, ever-evolving group dynamic that season one viewers embraced.”
In other words, these two are about to bring the drama as, interestingly, the most drama-filled divas are on their way out. TV One has announced that the only returning LA Divas will be Chanté Moore, Lil’ Mo, Michel’le and Claudette Ortiz, which means Kelly Price and Dawn Robinson are on their way out. Try to fight back your tears.
It will certainly be interesting to see how Leela and Chrisette fit into the mix. I tend to think of Chrisette as a budding artist still trying to make a name for herself in the biz, as opposed to the rest of the cast members who’ve pretty much already had their moment. And though Leela mostly flies under the radar, she has proven to be a wild child on stage. This season definitely sounds like one to watch.
What do you think about the new cast members and Kelly and Dawn leaving?
