Changing careers obviously comes with plenty of practical issues like financial and scheduling matters but it can also take a huge toll on a person’s ego: you can go from the manager at one company to coffee-runner in your new line of work, or even intern! And some women can’t bare the idea of having their partner see them as “unaccomplished” or at the bottom of the totem pole at work—they’d rather go through that perceived humiliation not under the observation of a romantic partner, so they end things.
