Is Moesha Coming Back To Television?

November 26, 2013  |

Just the other day, I was reminiscing about the goodness of the ’90’s show “Moesha,” and now the rumor mill is swirling with news that a show based loosely on the show might be coming to a television screen near you.

According to, Brandy and Tyler Perry are collaborating on a new television show.

Here’s what the report, which has no verification from… anyone, has to say about the possible new show.

Brandy has been talking about doing her own TV show for a while now, and everything is finally falling into place for her! She recently teamed up with Tyler Perry and is working on her own TV show slightly based off of her old show “Moesha”. We’re not sure if it will be a continuation or a completely different show, but we do now that William Allen Young and Sheryl Lee Ralph (Frank and Dee from Moesha) will be portraying her parents again in this new show. Sources say it will be more mature but will still be comedic and family orientated. Tyler is negotiating with Oprah to get it on OWN but if that doesn’t work out, BET or TBS would be a great back up.

Right now, all of this is really shaky. But we’re reporting it because it would be such a great thing for all parties involved…especially if it ends up on OWN. Annnd it would be great to get answers to the loose ends in the last episode like who was really pregnant and what the hell happened with the Myles kidnapping?

What do you think about the reemergence of Moesha? Are you down?

Im not looking forward to it, but if Boy Meets World can do it. Then why not Moesha?

As much as I love Moesha, it would not be the same without Lamont Bentley and Yvette Willson. I guess bringing back Countess Vaughn would help some.

    • mojo

true but I think I would still watch it…or at least give it a try lol

It’d be cool if they did some kind of continuation of it, since they kind of left us hanging with that last episode.

AMEN!!! “Mo to the, E to the, MOESHA.”I absolutely love Brandy, & “Moesha” was a part of my childhood! It will be hard without Yvette Wilson & Lamont Bentley, RIP!!

  • T.L.

I would absolutely love to watch it IF AND ONLY IF TYLER PERRY HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!!! I hate his BORING, CORNY, SITCOMS that looks like boot leg stage plays. Even his production sets are whack!

So who else is putting black people on TV besides in reality shows that make us as a race look like absolute bafoons with or without money?! Do we want to see ourselves succeed or just sit back and say no thats not it to everything that is done. There is not one other person putting black actors/actresses to work. Or putting us on TV. He is not doing anything detramental to black people. So I guess that every show that you watch and movie you have seen are of the most high caliber hollywood productions and now you refuse to watch anything less?! Yeah, we think we have arrived and can point fingers on the good success of others. SMH! Tyler may need some quality improvement, however, we outright discredit this man like he is the dang black movie devil. Crabs in a barrel! Funny how this site never discusses how much of a disease is Mona Scott Yong or are we all like, gurl get that money! Sheesh already!!

        Trolls are gonna Troll

It’s not a crab in the barrel mentality. And just because someone isn’t impressed with Tyler Perry doesn’t mean they are content with subpar or stereotypical entertainment.

Truth is, Tyler Perry has the most exposure right now and not every Black American sees themselves in his work. Its unfortunate that we can’t have a more diverse representation that allows for more Black creatives to reach the level of Tyler Perry. Not all of us are satisfied with his brand of entertainment, nor should we be.

Fortunately there are other Black creatives that are producing content other than Perry. They may not be as popular, but they are out there, and they are creating opportunities.

I’m going to see Ava Duvernay’s Middle of Nowhere in December and I am excited.

This is the part where you can tell me to have a _/ in any number of overused ways. Name a stadium and tell me to have all of them. Go ahead.

You better say that! I really can’t take anyone who hates on Tyler Perry but is glued to those reality t.v. shows seriously!

    • JRoc85

Well, I kinda agree about Tyler Perry (not entirely)!!!! “House of Payne” & “The Have and Have Nots” was REALLY GOOD, but “Love Thy Neighbor” sucks!!!

  • ThaVoiceoftheVoiceless

If it is true, then it would be such a shame considering that they can’t tie up some of the loose ends from the original show since the death of Lamont Bentley.

    • sh

A shame?! WTF! When is your show airing on TV?………… _/ Have one!

      • Chas

        Well they cant…..

      • Nerdstradamas

Overreacting much? Seems like you were just looking for an opportunity to use that little _/ seat icon. Trolls are going to troll…
