It looks like Nickelodeon has somewhat of a hit on their hands with Instant Mom and to celebrate, they’ve added episodes to season one and renewed it for a second season!
That’s right, the sitcom starring Tia Mowry-Hardrict has been picked up for an additional six episodes, according to Variety. It may not sound like a lot, but Nickelodeon operates very differently from other networks when it comes to show ratings and renewals. With only an average of 1.2 million viewers per week would cause other stations to call it a failure, Nickelodeon bases their ratings on the amount of women watching as well as people in the 18-49 age range. Putting it all together, it looks like it has all been working out.
With these additional spots, that brings the show’s total to 26 episodes for season one.
Instant Mom focuses on Stephanie (played by Mowry-Hardrict) who is a party girl turned mom of three when she marries Charlie (played by Michael Boatman). Actress Sheryl Lee Ralph plays Maggie, Stephanie’s mother, who is always around to help her navigate through her new role as a mother.
The fact that the first season will have a full 26 episodes is beyond amazing news. Many new shows start out with six episodes and if they do fairly well, the executives may add another seven and end the first season with just 13 episodes. Hopefully, the show will continue to see success.
Congrats to the entire cast! Do you watch Instant Mom?
