“R&B Divas Atlanta” And “R&B Divas LA” Renewed! Guess Who Got The Boot…

November 18, 2013  |

Finally, some happy reality TV news!

This morning TV One announced on “News One Now” that the network has picked up its popular reality series “R&B Divas Atlanta” for a third season and “R&B Divas LA” for its second season. Both series are slated to return in 2014 and according to a news release, production on season three of the Atlanta branch of “R&B Divas” will begin this month. D’Angela Proctor, SVP of Programming and Production for TV One, said in the press announcement:

“The most recent seasons of the Atlanta and Los Angeles series, as well as their post-season reunion specials, enjoyed stellar ratings success in 2013—marking some of our highest-rated telecasts in network history. The divas are not only wildly talented and celebrated music artists, but relatable women with joys and struggles that resonated strongly with our viewers. We look forward to chronicling more of their stories, and drama, in these upcoming seasons.”

What’s perhaps more interesting than the renewal is news of who will and will not be returning to ”R&B Divas Atlanta.” The press release notes returning cast members will be Syleena Johnson, Angie Stone, Monifah Carter, Keke Wyatt, which means Nicci Gilbert got the boot, as did Latocha Scott, who just joined in season two. So far there’s no word on the “R&B Divas LA” cast, but we have to wonder whether Nicci is still producing series and chose to remain behind the scenes or is out of the franchise altogether.

Will you still watch without her?

Good Riddens to Nicci. Love these shows.

Nicci will do better with not being on camera. Its bad for her career. She can still be executive producer we just don’t need to hear or see her.

  • Great for meaningful reunion.

  • Keith Norman Jr.

Nicci is still the EP of the show, so she’s not gone, just on camera

  • JTerry

Heck, Nicci is one of the main reasons I STOPPED watching.

Finally! Thank goodness, now I will return to watching. Season 1 started getting goofy and by Season 2, I was done. Keke being gone would have been icing on the cake for me. She is immature, annoying, and tacky. No Faith either? Her, Mo, and Syleena were the only ones I was interested in. Angie is cool, too. I don’t watch the L.A. cast and nothing about that will change LOL although, I like Chante.

Nicci leaving makes me want to watch more.

“Na Na Na, Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey, Goodbye.” That’s all I have to say about Nicci Gilbert! As for LaTocha Scott, she was an interesting addition to show, BUT she really didn’t bring anything to the table. Overall, I think the right 4 people are staying! As for the L.A. franchise, WE ALL KNOW that Dawn is out, & all Kelly has to do is “exit stage left.” I would like to see Claudette open up little more because I think she has a powerful story to tell. I would like to see Sunshine Anderson, Blu Cantrell, or Sparkle (R. Kelly’s protege) join one of these shows!!

I liked the fact that LaTocha was on the second season and all four of the original Xscape members had a platform to speak on… while many fans weren’t, and still aren’t, exactly sure what went down, but to me, it seemed like she was using it to bash Kandi (still, after years of having already doing so and even on one instance, “apologizing” to her) and I didn’t like that about her at all. I wish all the ladies much success, even Nicci, though I am glad I won’t have to see her anymore!

YES!!! Very happy to hear that Nicci Gilbert will not be returning……I just could get with her attitude, very childish and arrogant!!

  • BabyBlue

Congrats! I really do hope that this show revives these artist careers. I miss good singers from the 90s.

Yes I still will watch without Nicci. She caused too much unnecessary drama anyway. Glad she’s gone. I can’t wait for the next seasons of both shows.
