Before you say no, just give the idea an open mind because there’s a chance Eric Benét will have a hit show on his hands.
According to a press release obtained by Billboard, Sub Stars “will pit the best ‘underground’ musicians, discovered in the subway systems of major U.S. cities against one another.” Like most of the other singing and musical reality shows, the winner of the show will win a record deal. There’s also a chance to win cash and other prizes.
The show will also be more interactive than other shows that have the normal dial-in and vote routine. Sub Stars will allow fans and viewers to use the Sub Stars app to find talent and vote for contestants.
Creator and executive producer Phil Viardo started a Kickstarter campaign last Thursday in hopes of raising almost $400,000 (or more) to help fund the new show.
Eric Benét, who will serve as both co-executive producer and the host, says of the show: “Sub Stars gives truly unique characters, with a different and innovative sound, a platform to showcase their musical individualism and talent.”
Some of the best talent can be found in the train stations so this could actually work.
Okay, so now you can come to a better decision. Do you think you’ll give Sub Stars a chance whenever it finally hits the small screen or do you think they’ve finally run out of ideas and this is desperation.
