Who knew that popularity was measured in numbers and kept track of in Hollywood?

Kanye West has always been a polarizing figure–folks either love him or loathe him, and despite his past of interrupting people’s acceptance speeches and declaring that “George Bush doesn’t care about black people,” he always maintained a relatively high popularity level with people, even the ladies. But it seems that his decision to date and ultimately want to settle down with Kim Kardashian has had a negative impact on his popularity, specifically with women.

According to the Daily Mail via Q Scores, which is known as “the recognized industry standard for measuring consumer appeal of personalities, characters, licensed properties, programs and brands,” Kanye West’s popularity level started off high at 17 among women in the age range of 18-49 prior to his relationship with Kim Kardashian. But since the two became an item, parents, and engaged, West’s popularity with the same age group has dipped from 17 to just a mere 3. It’s interesting considering that this might be the happiest time of West’s life, but now it’s his least popular time with the fans. West has always been a loose canon, but being seen with a woman that is ALWAYS in the public eye (he really wasn’t always seen out and about prior to dating her) magnifies the foolery he gets involved in and makes him more of a target. And rocking a Confederate flag jacket, slap-boxing with paparazzi and beefing with TV hosts doesn’t help either…

Are you surprised that West’s popularity has sunk so low?

He is way to self absorbed, it is okay to think you are good, but he has taken it to a whole new level, and it not attractive. Calling your self the black Jesus, are you out of your mind, Jesus was neither self absorbed or violent, so maybe you might want to think about a different moniker.

I agree that he’s been going off the deep end. Its because of the loss of his mom, not Kim. The funny thing is that no matter what we say,he’ll still be considered one of the greats decades from now. Personality aside, he’s my favorite artist. I think he’s going to be around for many years to come, he’s just going through a “f*ck everything” phase lol.

  • CC

I don’t think it’s necessarily because of her I feel his behavior started to change around the time he started dating her and that’s what made people start shying away from him……

  • NLaGirl

I like Kanye because he’s not afraid to say what he feels. At the end of the day, that’s all he has, his beliefs. There’s strength in being yourself no matter what. As far as the confederate flag thing, I believe its a f u to those who believe in that flag and what it stands for. He (Kanye) knew that black people are not going to buy those items. Its a way for him to make money off white people. I’m all for him doing so, because those who display that flag do so to remind blacks of their place (the fear, hate and being inferior). He’s taking that away from them by saying I’m not afraid anymore and more importantly I’m not inferior. He’s displaying what we all know, we were never inferior to whites and its time we start believing in ourselves and taking back our power!

    • Losh

But if you see a white person wearing those confederate flag clothes, doesn’t the message revert right back to where it originated? If I saw someone wearing it on the street, I might know someone got that jacket from Kanye’s line, but plenty of other Black people wouldn’t and it would still look like plain ol’ racism.

      • NLaGirl

Yes, it does revert back but only if I chose to allow it take me to that place. I see that everyday in the south and honestly it lets me know what state of mind that white person has as well as who they are…ignorant. In a way that’s the point, when you see it you know where they stand so you leave them to their ignorance. I refuse to allow them to bring me down to their level by reacting to it. At the end of the day that’s what they want, a reaction to prove they can still control you with that flag. Its a trigger object and they know it!

I know it’s the truth that his popularity downgraded but I don’t Kim is the one to blame. More like his egotistical and “I think I’m bigger than God himself” attitude played a part in it, like the time he interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the VMAs over 4 years ago, I lost my respect for him after that incident. Also the death of his mother one of the reasons why he went down hill and its sad that his mom passed. I miss the College Dropout Kanye,

    • NLaGirl

I, too, believe something changed when his mother passed. In some ways he lost part of himself. His music now is full of hurt and to me is a cry for help. I also didn’t like what he did to Taylor Swift but he succeeded in creating a buzz for himself!

  • BabyBlue

    Not surprised at all.

  • Ladybug94

I’m sure he’s really hurt since none of us are paying his bills. Not really caring.

    • CC

Actually his fans do pay his bills. If he loses enough fan base he will wither away and go broke eventually……

      • Marie Bano

Used to be Kanye fan. HE SEEMED LIKE A DEEP CONSCIOUS BLACK MAN WITH PRIDE. I know his mums death had a bad effect on him but he seems to be losing his mind, it is very sad for his fans to see.

  • DeepThinker

The fact that he has become an illuminati puppet bothers me more than his relationship with the industry bicycle. Notice how he tries to convince anybody that will listen that’s what’s bad is now good. When he started convincing everyone to freely embrace using the “N” word, I knew he had went off his rocker. Poor North!

  • KiKi

I find it odd because he’s always saying “the white man this, the white man that”, then turns around and has a baby and is about to marry a white girl….and this is coming from a biracial woman!

    • Ladybug94

She’s not white. They are Armenian.

      • ok!

        That’s white…

        • Sideeye

Uhm, do you know how close Armenia is to Turkey, Syria, Iran and Iraq???…or are they white too????

        • BatNigga

So if you sat next to an Armenian man wearing a backpack on a flight you would feel totally fine right?

      • Kay

She benefits from whiteness. From white privilege. Black people kill me when they state this. Dr. Oz is from Turkey and he is white. Trust me, she considers herself white

      • Guest

Only her father is Armenian. And I seriously doubt Kim thinks of herself as Middle Eastern/Asian.

      • Live_in_LDN

Mother is German and their father is 3rd gen Armenian which is ethnically Caucasian.

  • Pink

    I’m not surprised.Serves him right.

  • Rashae Tara Brown

    Kanye died with his mom

    • Taneesha Culture Clash Thomas

      true

    • Shea

      Damn…That’s deep.

    • Cassie

That’s a DEEP statement, but no truer words have been spoken. I understand because I also died when my mom died!
I exist now.. Haven’t lived in 7 years.

  • JB#3

I think it has more to do with his attitude than Kim. The Confederate Flag in my opinion is a big No. (It’s more a hell to no) You can spin anyway you want to I don’t want anything to do with that flag. I’m not a Kim Kardashian fan but I like her right now more than him.

  • Bren

Not surprised at all. He’s selfish and has no respect for others.

  • me

He was never likable, and it’s only been worse since he got with her. I think that relationship will continue to do serious damage to his brand …

  • Val

Maybe his popularity has fallen but I definitely don’t think it’s because of Kim. He’s been making out there comments and doing all sorts of crazy stuff lately. Like putting the confederate flag on clothes and wearing it, etc.

    • Chas

I agree 100%. Kim isn’t everyone’s favorite person but she didn’t change him he’s been strange for a while. If anything I think he’s changed her.

    • TT

Sad to admit, but I actually do dislike him slightly b/c he is with Kim. Yet, I have always and STILL do appreciate and respect his as an artist.

    • Losh

I don’t think it’s her, either. Personally, I think he’s lost the voice that drew so many of us to him in the first place.

  • Dinah

I agree his popularity has diminished. He’s not the same ‘Ye. As time goes on, one should mature. He’s out here calling himself Yeezus, beating up paparazzi, sporting the Confederate flag and talking like a white girl. It’s definitely okay to be passionate about the evils of the world, but you out here yelling about leather jogging pants. Kanye has ZERO chill!

    • ksmall

      so very well articulated lol.

    • BabyBlue

Dead at talking like a white girl lmao

No thanks
