Sneak Peek: Will You Watch WE TV’s New Show, “The Ruckers: Southern Royals?”

Back in April, WE Tv announced their new shows, which included Pregnant & Dating, Newlyweds, and The Ruckers: Southern Royals. As the first two shows have already aired, it is time for The Ruckers to take over.

The Rucker sisters, Ione, Ellene and Ruby are from Lancaster, South Carolina and they are pretty much what you expect from true Southern belles. They are just three of eight children, all of whom are educated, and come from a prominent family.  The Rucker name is all over the town – street names, schools, business, etc – and they expect the best treatment.

The youngest sister, Ione, is 33 and is the former wife of basketball player Antawn Jamison.  Their divorce was finalized in 2012 and her other two sisters are determined to get her a date. Unfortunately, Ione still seems to have unresolved issues regarding her relationship and because of it, she’s become to much older men because she thinks they’ll focus more on her and not other women. She also wears her wedding ring when they go out because “it’s a diamond and it’s nice.” Yes okay, girl.

Ellen is 36 and is currently dating Bakari Sellers, a politician in the House of Representatives.  She is also the former wife of basketball player Vince Carter (he played college basketball with Antawn Jamison and they’re best friends). While she may have married into a wealthy life, she is able to take care of herself with her career as a chiropractor.

Finally, Ruby is one of the older children (her age was not revealed) and is married to a prominent dentist. Her family has gone through some hardships and you get a glimpse of that when she admits they moved into a smaller home and also, two of her aunts have moved in to the home to help them out.

Initially, the women may come across as a bit annoying (I think it’s in their voices), but there’s a chance this might be good.

According to EURweb, The Ruckers: Southern Royals is scheduled to premiere in January on Thursday nights.

this looks like a decent show. I’m tired of seeing Black women cutting each other down and being negative stereotypes. This looks like fun tv and at least they are showing what family is and the many generations. it looks better than most of those Bravo bs shows. I will be watching and not turning the channel when my kids come in because I don’t want them exposed to trash tv.

  • Ms. KEEP IT REAL

This is a positive show about black family so the question of if I will be watching is a yes….don’t hate on our sistas out here raising their families.

A more apt title of this show would be “The Ex Wives of NBA Players.” Are there any black female reality shows without a running theme of getting and keeping men?

If the girl’s name is “Lone”, why isn’t it capitalized in this article?

    • Anonymous

Her name is Ione (with an i).

    • ________

      ROFL WTF?

    • DC

      It’s pronounced like “eye-oon”

  • Gabie Aldrich

    This looks Messy & Unneeded!

I can only imagine. From the same town as Dutchess of Blank Ink, yeah she is not from Charlotte. Lancaster is either you have money or you do not and unless they are doing something for their community with all of that wealth they are going to flaunt for the world, which needs help – several shootings for a SC town, they are worthless.

Cute, but I won’t be watching… I need to get my life before I continue to keep watching others. I do like the family dynamic, it’s nice to see a family so close.

      The realest answer.

  • TimeIn

This is funny. Yes, I’ll watch. – Better than any of the Real Housewives mess.

  • SB

Their voices are so annoying. I have an aunt from South Carolina and she does not sound like this…She has a beautiful accent, not whiny like these women..I might catch an episode or two but I agree with Keland, it follows the typical storyline.

  • Keland

Maybe when I am bored I will watch, but this show follows the typical storyline that is written for women.

  • Nikia D-Shiznit

    Nope
