Look outside ladies and gents, because pigs may officially be flying. Well, either that or Kanye West has finally grown into a mature, more responsible adult. During a recent interview with Power 106, the once self-proclaimed Louis Vuitton Don denounced the brand, revealing that he wouldn’t design any more for the high-end fashion house because their prices are too high.

“If I had the opportunity to design for Louis Vuitton now, I wouldn’t. The prices are too extreme. I wouldn’t want to use my message to have kids saving up that much to be a part of what the ideals are. That’s the problem to me with luxury,” he said.

Kanye went on to commend brands like H&M for offering affordable clothing to teenyboppers and adults alike.

“And that’s one thing that’s good– I don’t necessarily agree with everything that H&M and Zara does, but one thing that’s good about it, is that they were able to break that idea that creativity and all of these things that you really want have to cost like a million dollars.”

“The prices are really based on this perception and this idea of luxury that gets sold to you, where you see like a girl laid out on a rock and on the side of the rock, you see like a Gucci ad at the bottom of it. I’ve realized that the only real luxury is time. That’s the only thing that you can’t get back and time with your family. People need to understand that true art is the art of life itself,” he continued.

Well check him out, sounding like a grownup and stuff. It seems that fatherhood is doing him well!

    The “Louie Vuitton Don”??

  • ComeLetsTalk

Oh… now that they aren’t giving him the shine he so desperately wanted, now he see’s the light. Negro please. I recently learned that those LV bags that are being troted around NYC aren’t even Leather. I was shocked to learn that most of the more popular LV styles are basically glorified canvas. Coated freaking canvas. America will stay having you thinking something is a status symbol meanwhile the rest of your life is going to the crapper. No thank you.

  • NOLA_Darling

How ironic that the same week his fellow “N#gga in Paris” got slammed for his affiliation with a high end department store, this lover of luxury labels and liquor has decided that the uber-expensive French brand he partnered with is too expensive. Maybe he and Jay-Z should do a follow song called “N#gga, Please” because the rest of us are getting quit tired of their self-aggrandizing foolishness.

  • MarriedMomOf2

I wouldn’t buy anything LV either, those prices are higher than my rent, like 6 months worth.

Kanye is a very intelligent man. He has done and said some foolish things publicly that have made people question his motives, ideas and sanity. BUT if you listen to him speak, you’ll see that he is far from a fool. What he said in this interview, makes a lot of sense BUT he a hypocritically. I mean, this guy just rented out a stadium to propse to his baby mama. He coulda did that at home. HE spends hundreds and thousands of dollars on shoes and clothes. Is he saying that he’s not going to opt for a more frugal and cost conscience lifestyle? Highly doubtful. It SOUNDED good though. *Kanye shrug* lol

    • Mez D

He shouldn’t have to be frugal, He earned his money and can spend it. All he said was that he wouldn’t collab with them cause of all the kids that would feel forced to waste their money on that

  • kiki j

The thing about Kanye is he’s arrogant, immature, bratty and copy jayz to the point that it’s unattractive, but he ain’t no dummy! When you actually get pass the negative in him (i know it’s hard) he makes a lot of sense so this statement doesn’t surprise me. Don’t sleep on kanye he’s not as dumb as he acts.

    If this isn’t hypocrisy…

  • scandalous7

    well, well, well!

  • FromUR2UB

I’ve never understood why anybody pays all that money for some vinyl anyway. LV suckerizes peoples. ( Now it does, I just made it up).

  • Rosemary Davis

While his intentions may have been good and well he’s the last person who needs to be talking about luxury, the woman he is about too marry live a life of luxury, and so does he private planes, expensive clothing, shoes, bags, and jewelery not to even mention that eleven million dollar house they just bought and if he’s trying too be a high end fashion designer, I don’t think it would be wise to openly critisize Louis Vuitton he just may turned the entire fashion industry against him oh and by the way he just open up his Yezzus store right next too Kims store,

“I wouldn’t want to use my message to have kids saving up that much to be a part of what the ideals are.

    • BabyBlue

So, that song reflected Kanye’s character? Bahaha ok. He’s also had a song about his mother, blood diamonds of Sierra Leone, homecoming talked about his love for Chicago, new slaves which talks about all of us becoming victims of materialism he doesn’t always gloat about what he has.

      • http://MadameWordsmith.com/ Ashley Beauchamp

Yes it did reflect his character. Everything we do as human beings reflects character. If Kanye sang 4 songs that were positive over 7 years ago, that’s great. I’m concerned about his “msg to kids” with the songs he puts out today—like “Mercy.”

        • BabyBlue

I totally disagree with you. I find your comment hilarious. Enjoy the rest of your evening

          • http://MadameWordsmith.com/ Ashley Beauchamp

That’s ok. Not sure what part you disagree with, but as mature adults we can always “agree to disagree”. I also didn’t know my comment was funny, but laughter is good for the soul, so I’m happy to hear that too. Have a blessed night! :o)

  • lisa1215

We should all be allowed to mature. It won’t happen necessarily all at once. I’m not even a big Kanye music fan. But these words are refreshing to hear. Some of us take baby steps. He is allowed to learn and grow. He is dead on about time and family. He is learning. Maturity … pass it on.

    • Rosemary Davis

Refreshing too hear? Kanye West speaks out of both sides of his mouth he’s not taking baby steps toward anything except more immaturity he should put his money where his mouth is and open up stores for kids and young adults who can’t afford expensive things instead of the Yessus store he just open on Melrose with items so expensive if you need to ask the price you obviously can’t afford it

      • BabyBlue

        Aww you mad? That sucks

        • Guest

Excuse me, Kanye, but shouldn’t you be busy planning your wedding instead of responding to everyone’s comments? That’s what gets on my nerves about some of these blogs. People can’t even express an opinion without being accused of hating. Kanye is a raving hypocrite. Accept it.

          • BabyBlue

Lol aww you’re mad too? It’s really not that serious. We’ve all been hypocritical at one time so how is he any different? Life goes on.

            • Guest

Yes, as you mature and grow, of course your opinions change. His seem to change from one interview to the next.

              • BabyBlue

That still doesn’t make him wrong. If he changes so what

    • Ce1999

I agree with this and I hope he really does reach maturity.

  • BabyBlue

Isn’t he allowed to change his opinion? He can’t change his outlook on things he spoke highly of at one point. If that’s how he feels then I gotta take his word.

  • illogical

LV is high f*ck what ya heard. Speak Kanye!!

  • Sheena

I’m very happy that he was vocal about this. Listen up people…a MILLIONARE is saying how this luxury brand is too expensive!!!Hopefully people will understand what he’s saying and learn that luxury items with a poor bacnk account is NOT hot/the way to be

    • Lola

WRONG…. He is a hypocrite !!!!! He is the very same man that wants his young, under employed, impressionable “fans” to save $$$ to buy his Yeezus sneakers… PHONY…Now he wants to back pedal and not design for LV and put out that statement…. REALLY!!!!!!! He’s not about that “affordable” life…How about he starts wearing clothes from H&M….. Believe me, that’s not the look he’s going for SMH…. If that’s the message he wants to send to the public now, he better practice what he preaches… If not he can go to the bank and save that comment.

      • kiki j

I don’t think that makes him a hypocrite…he can afford his lifestyle. What should he do buy a $80k house when he has multi-millions in the bank? His point being is the fact that many teens and twens are bred to worship these expensive brands which demotes the value of life much less the value of a dollar. I commend him for his comment. And I’m far from a fan of anybody who compares himself to Jesus. But i don’t think his comment is hypocrisy.

        • BabyBlue

Preach. People just find the smallest thing to dislike and hate on. Whatever happened to giving credit when credit is due?

        • Trisha_B

Kanye targets young men w/ them sneakers. No rich, elite person is wearing yeezus sneakers that glow in the dark. He knows who buy his stuff

          • Mez D

Hes not saying HE wont wear or endorse LV. He’s saying he wouldn’t design for them any more cause he knows how many of his broke and young fans would want to save up all there money and buy it

  • Trisha_B

Wait….LV prices are too high? So a $500 white tee is cheap? w.e Kanye lol…. i would like to see him start a line that is affordable, & i bet his meaning of affordable is different lol

    • ItsMyOpinion

Thank you!! This can’t be coming form “Mr. $2,000 shoes for Giuseppe and $300 for a pair of Yeezus.” Give me a break…lol

      • Sunshinegirl

Exactly. I bought the knock off leaf sandals from Baker’s because I couldn’t afford the Giuseppe’s! And quite frankly, I think they look just as good, LOL!

    • FeelsGood

Right. This statement should have come from somebody like Kendrick Lamar, whose whole ensemble couldn’t cost no more than $25. Surely K. Lamar shops at Target and the Chuck Taylor outlet. Kayne continues to disappoint, lol

      • sammi_lu

hey if ur a converse rocker like myself..that outlet is the bizness lol
