Many of us were shocked to learn that Kordell Stewart filed for divorce from his reality TV star wife back in March. What made it all so ironic, is that the news got out just as Porsha’s first season of Real Housewives of Atlanta concluded. Judging by the show’s season six trailer, we’ll be provided with plenty of insight into the couple’s marriage and divorce this season. During a recent interview with Sister 2 Sister, Porsha also opened up about her marriage, revealing how they met, why she gave up being a business owner to become a housewife and why reality TV is not to blame for her divorce. Check out some of her interview highlights below.

On going from business owner to housewife:

“Well at the time, I was the one that provided for a lot of people, the one that a lot of people depended on. I had a lot of responsibilities. And when I met my husband, he was a very powerful person that I saw could care for me and give me a break from having to do all of that. And more than that, I wanted to be a wife. I wanted to be able to raise a family and give them 100 percent of my attention. That was more important to me that the money I was bringing in. So it was really nothing for me to have to leave my business.

On how she met Kordell:

“I was going to a birthday party and I met him at a lounge in Atlanta. I hadn’t been going out that much, and I went out. It was a rainy night. I didn’t want to go. From what he told me later, he didn’t want to go. But we went anyhow and we ended up locking eyes, met each other and fell in love after that.”

On if she blames reality TV for her divorce:

“You know, right now, I’m still going in the middle of my divorce. So I really can’t say. I do know that the show did not cause my breakup. So whatever was going to happen for us, it was going to happen. Because we were the same two people before the show and we’re the same two people after the show.”
